Description
The UNiKA PRO-STP is a speaker tester designed specifically for sound engineers. In environments without power amplifiers, engineers can use the tester to output pink noise directly and test the impedance of speaker systems. Alternatively, engineers can output the pink noise to the mixing console to perform general system tests.
The level of the pink noise can be adjusted separately for subwoofers, midrange drivers, compression drivers, and tweeters. Pink noise can also be fed into loudspeaker cabinets with their own power supply via an XLR line output.
Pressing the DC-OHMS-TEST button applies a 5 VDC voltage to the output terminals, which can be selected with push buttons. This allows engineers to observe the movement of the membranes and detect polarity errors in speakers and cabling. Additionally, a DC ohm test is performed with three LEDs that indicate approximate ranges of 4, 8, or 16 ohms. This is helpful for detecting defective speakers in enclosures where the diaphragms cannot easily be observed and in enclosures with multiple speakers in parallel row configurations.
The PRO-STP can be powered by four AA batteries or an external 1 A/6 VDC power adapter (not included).
Features:
- Generates and outputs pink noise from XLR to active speaker cabinets
- Generates and outputs pink noise to NL4 and NL8 outputs.
- The pink noise is equipped with an on/off volume potentiometer.
- 5 VDC push button for speaker impedance detection.
- Four toggle switches are available for the circuit variants of the NL4 and NL8 outputs.
- 4/8/16 ohm LED indicators show the impedance measurement result.
